We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them
Numbers 13:33
True reality, the only real reality, is reality as God sees it; seeing things the way God sees them. Our perception of the world and even ourselves is limited by our humanity. We’re easily distracted by circumstances, discouraged by what we see from our perspective. The things is, we can’t see the whole picture. God always does. He sees our complete story. The issues usually arise when we, while on page 15, facing a crisis, can’t visualize making it to page 20. But the same God who was there on page 1, who started this story and got you to 15 will guide you to 20. Even though sometimes it may be silently.
Our fearlessness in the face of giants and adversity should never be completely dependent on our own strengths and sufficiency, At some point, we will be reminded of our inadequacies, our shortcomings, our grasshopper-ness. We will feel like we will be crushed by what we’re sent out to conquer. It will seem too big, too impossible. Truth is, on our own that’s all true. The only thing that can overrule that is complete confidence in God and His promises. A Caleb heart. A heart that serves and trusts God wholeheartedly. A heart that can silence the people and more importantly yourself & boldly stand and say, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it (Numbers 13:30).”

But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it
Numbers 14:24
Caleb had physical ability but so did the other spies, that’s why they were chosen. What separated him and Joshua was their God focused perspective. Fear and limited sight was powerful enough to cause the nation to prefer going back into SLAVERY. Sometimes how we see can cause us to stay or go back to a situation that actually has us in bondage. We prefer there because we can see it, it’s familiar. The power of sight. But Caleb and Joshua never lost sight of the Lord being on their side. They could see themselves as the conquerors they really were because they saw from God’s perspective.
If the Lord is pleased with us, He will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will devour them. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them
Numbers 14:8-9

A God designed destination does not eliminated battles during the journey but with God, our ultimate goal is victory. Victory His way, on His terms. There were obstacles to get to their promise. There were giants, real giants not just a figure of speech and yes, the spies were smaller. But what are giants to a God who had parted seas and drowned armies for them to cross over. We can’t forget past victories in the face of present difficulties. We may be familiar with this story but no so much that we get complacent in our understanding of how important this principle is. Because of the report the spies brought, an uprising started among the people. It caused the entire nation to rebel. Only 2 were bold enough. Only 2 trusted their God enough. Only 2 denied what they could see with their physical eyes to instead see it how God would. Only 2 entered into the promise. See the real thing.
