Starting Over

You have to start. No one ever made changes by staying the same or started walking without taking a step. You don’t have to start big you just have to start somewhere.

We don’t know what becoming a butterfly feels like. We just see it and admire the beauty. If we were to take it out of the cocoon we’d end up with a partially liquified mess most likely.

Premature.

Like change.

I’m not sure if change was intended to be comfortable. Maybe, because we wouldn’t see a need for it. It feels like stretching skin & too tight shoes. Like scabs you want to keep picking at instead of letting it heal completely like it should. Itchy, uncomfortable mosquito bites. They’ve got to go.

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV

But, the butterfly. A radical transformation. Literally digests itself. The thought of that to me invokes some kind of pain. It also reminds me of the awesomeness of God who can take a thing, allow it to go through a process that completely breaks down everything it was & make it into something completely new & different. But the transformation, if disturbed risks being botched. A missing wing maybe, or it might not even re-form at all.

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it. I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland

Isaiah 43:19

Allow yourself the opportunity to liquefy so, to completely transform and allow God to make you into the something new. Don’t cut your chrysalis open too soon. It might be uncomfortable. You might feel like a soup of rapidly dividing cells. In the end, and the end of metamorphosis, beauty we’re all amazed by.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

James 1: 2-4

Trust the process. Going from crawling to being able to fly will seem out of place at first but don’t stay on the ground when you have wings. Don’t quit too soon so you can actually get to the having wings part. Let God take you to completion.
